About the handmade wall art from Green Chili Prints
What is so special about lino cuts?
The nice thing about lino printing is that it takes a lot of time. And that is a good thing because it will need you to enter some state of flow. And when that happens it is almost like meditation.
It also is a very unforgiving technique: any mistake, every badly placed cut, the wrong angle of your tool… it will leave a mark on your product! This makes it ideal for perfectionists like me because you really have to take your time and(!) it will reward your patience.
Some of my prints took several days to carve.
Is really each print unique?
Due to the handmade process, every print is unlike any print before. First of all the ink has to be mixed from base colors and then rolled onto the lino. Then the paper has to be placed and hand-pressed onto the inked lino. The distribution and the duration of the applied pressure will determine the outcome. Plus, every mold-made paper provides its unique texture and tiny imperfections.
So, no matter how hard you try, there will be no two identical prints ever. Isn’t that great?
